Pleione bulbocodiodes 'SBEC 0205'

Few Pleiones come with such an illustrious provenance! Collected in the Cangshan Mountains in Yunnan Province and introduced under this collection number by the Sino-British Expedition to China in 1981. Originally thought to represent P. delavayi, the flowers are a striking cyclamen purple with darker magenta blotches on the lip. The marginal fringe of the lip and the lamellae are white-tipped, making a lovely contrast to the dark purple flower. There are fine habitat photographs in Roy Lancaster’s book “Travels in China”, page
210/211 and in “The Genus Pleione” 2nd ed., pages 104-105.
