Pleione chunii

(late flowering form) – This is an unusual form of the species which does not flower until late May/June when all other Pleiones have long finished. This may suggest that it originates from higher altitudes in its Chinese homeland. It is otherwise much the same as normal chunii in having star-like flowers of the palest purple, a lip covered in reddish-brown blotches and rows of pale-yellow hairs. It appears to be easier to grow than most chunii and increases well. (Sourced from Rainer Kretz who obtained it from the German grower B. Röllich)
