One of I. Butterfield’s masterpieces needing little introduction, This cross using the legendary Shantung caused a sensation when it first became available and has produced a number of high quality selections of which this is arguably the finest. The flowers are orange-apricot overlaid with a mauve sheen. The lip is yellow marked heavily with deep orange and has prominent yellow keels. One of the milestone achievements in Pleione breeding but nowadays largely forgotten and rarely seen.
