Bred by the late Jan Berg in the Netherlands, one of the early Pleione pioneers. Its parents are the warmth loving, autumn-flowering Pln. maculata and the very late spring-flowering Pln. bulbocodioides. The result is a winter/late winter flowering hybrid with smooth green pseudobulbs and small but intensely coloured flowers on short stems. The colour is a dark reddish pink and the lip is heavily marked in magenta.
