Raised by Dr. Harberd from native collected seed obtained from Lushan Botanic Garden in China with the information that it was not Pln. yunnanensis. It first flowered in 1982 with flowers of light rose-purple, the petals overlaid with a deeper purple and the lip heavily spotted with rich purple. A historic and extremely rare pedigree Pleione of great beauty, now considered a natural hybrid between bulbocodioides and yunnanensis.
